Rob grew up playing field lacrosse and hockey in Montreal. This is his first year on the PNWJLL executive but he has been involved in both field and box lacrosse on the Island for over 20 years as a coach, referee and executive member. Rob coached minor box lacrosse briefly which led to 10 years as a field lacrosse coach and the honour of coaching 3 Team BC teams.
He began his executive involvement first as a director with Victoria Youth Field Lacrosse, moving on to serve as vice president and then president for 6 very successful and rewarding years. Rob also served two years as vice chair of Vancouver Island Field Lacrosse League before becoming the Island head referee, a position he held for 8 years. He became involved with the Juan de Fuca Box executive 18 years ago, serving as a director and head official. His implementation of the referee mentorship program at JDF is something Rob is most proud of. He is a certified Level 5 official in both field and box, and has reffed numerous field and box Provincial and National Championships at the minor and senior levels as well as many BC Summer Games tournaments.
In 2018 Rob was chosen to represent Canada at the FIL Men’s World Field Lacrosse Championships in Israel. After witnessing the increase in official abuse a few years ago, he decided to hang up his goalie skates and take up reffing hockey as well. He is a mentor and referee for Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey, and also enjoys reffing elite high school programs and military hockey. Rob has been a serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 34 years and in all aspects of his life he is known for his honesty, integrity and fairness.
