The Westshore Bears travelled to the Panorama Arena on the Saanich Peninsula to take on the Saanich Express Friday May 6th in what was anticipated to be a battle of the heavy weights. With over 300+ fans in attendance, they were not disappointed.

Westshore came out rather spirited and bumped and ground their way around the floor and for all loose balls. Unfortunately they were sometimes a little over-zealous and penalties ensued. The Express powerplay then went to work scoring on each of their first 5 powerplay opportunities and added an even strength goal as well in the first 8:10 of the first period. Saanich would explode with 10 goals in the first period only to be broken up halfway through with a tally by Hunter Clarke of the Bears.

The second period proved an even match-up with both teams accounting for another 10 goals; with Westshore coming on top in the 2nd period scoring 6 goals and 4 tallies by the home team. The third period was even as well, but with both teams refining their defensive efforts with the home team potting 3 goals and the visitors 2 markers.

The Saanich Express were led by Brett Bilodeau (3g, 7a, 10pts), Tory Bains (4g, 5a, 9pts), Kyle Drouin (3g, 3a, 6pts) and three others with 3pts. each while the Bears were lead by Hayden Cardinal (5 assists), Connor Rant (1g, 4a, 5pts) and Hunter Clarke (3g, 3pts) and A.J. Preston (1g, 2a, 3pts).

Week #4 games see the Westshore Bears on Thursday May 12th host the Nanaimo Timbermen @ 8:00pm at the Q Centre Arena.

After playing the night before, the Saanich Express travelled up the Alberni Highway to face the Oceanside Sharks in a neutral site meeting to expose the Port Alberni Tyees Minor Lacrosse Association to the next level of lacrosse after 16U (midget).

The Express started strong tallying 4 goals before the home team got on the board. The Sharks would never quit as they rallied the troops and fought back scoring a couple before both teams traded goals closing out the first period with a score of 6-4 for the visiting Express. The 2nd period was the turning point in the contest; with the two teams trading 2 goals each early in the period, the Saanich Express would then go on a tear scoring the final 7 goals of the period. The third period saw the visitors double up the home team 6-3 but a good effort by the home team as they never gave up fighting throughout the match.

The Express were led by Devyn Zunti (5g, 5a, 10pts), Kyle Drouin (4g, 5a, 9pts), Brett Bilodeau (2g, 4a, 6pts), Robbie Walker (2g, 3a, 5pts) and Bains and Hauser with 4pts each. The Sharks were lead by Ben Tisdelle & Jaiden Hammill (2g, 2a, 4pts/each) and Brett Beauchamp (1g, 2a, 3pts).

Week #4 sees the Oceanside Sharks and Saanich Express with bye weeks.

Those in attendance for the afternoon match between the Westshore Bears and Campbell River Ravens were treated to a fine defensive performance by the Bears.

The Bears rose to the occasion and rebounded after their previous game to play a sound defensive game; unfortunately for the Ravens, they were the opponents this day. The Bears held period leads of 2-0 after the first and 4-0 after the second before blowing the game wide open in the 3rd to walk away with the lop-sided victory.

Westshore was led by Connor Rant (4g, 3a, 7pts), Ryan Blundell (1g, 3a, 4pts), Hayden Cardinal (4a), and Will Perrier (2g, 2a, 4pts). The Ravens were lead defensively by#12 Brandon Babcock.

The Timbermen held period leads of 5-4 and 7-6 eventually holding off the visiting Sharks to get their first "W" of the season after a 2 1/2 year absence from the Pacific Northwest Junior Lacrosse League.

The Timbermen were led by Tysen Fontenla (2g, 3a, 5pts), Patrick Canning (2g, 2a, 4pts), and Patrick Seward and Silas Wilson with (1g, 2a, 3pts) each. The Sharks were lead by Diego Hopkins and Ben Tisdelle (3g, 2a, 5pts/each), Blake Knoll (1g, 2a, 3pts) and Jaiden Hammill (3a).
