2020 PREVIEW: Campbell River Ravens
CAMPBELL rIVER RAVENSLAST SEASON: 5-10-1 |
There was virtually a full scale change in the Salmon Capital of the World. With an entirely new operations and administrative group, coaching staff (Eric Brown, Brad Ross and Dwayne Christensen) and a handful of returning players; the Ravens knew their season was going to be a bit of a hill to climb but overall... it was considered a success!
The Ravens struggled during the 2019 season with low numbers and injuries but stayed strong and unified, weathering the bad times and never wavering, resulting in some great team contributions in close games and their wins. The cupboard is stocked with talent across the board, with next to no one graduating and at least a dozen graduating midgets, plus free agents, the Ravens could have upwards of 30+ to training camp, vying for a spot on the roster.
As the least penalized team in the PNWJLL last season, the disciplined Ravens coaching staff have a great philosophy for success for years to come. Campbell River will be looking at Heydon Campbell (15G, 32A, 47PTS), Jeremy Gushe (16G, 18A, 34PTS), Rylan Fisher (14G, 17A, 31PTS), and Ethan Mainprize (18G, 10A, 28PTS) to lead their returning core group and upcoming graduating midgets this season. Finding themselves a 2nd goalie to help alleviate the minutes in net that Coulton Darnel logged last season will assist both 'keepers for 2020.
The Strathcona Gardens will host the Campbell River Ravens again in 2020.
