Week #8 - Recap

The Campbell River Ravens played host to the Nanaimo Timbermen in mid-week PNWJLL action on Tuesday evening. The home team held a 2-1 first period lead in a tightly contested affair. The second period is when the flood gates opened where fans got to see 15 goals scored between the two clubs as the Timbermen outscored the Ravens 8-7 and the teams went in to intermission with the game knotted at 9 a piece.

Both teams offense's cooled down and goaltending became the focus as each team swapped goals throughout the third period. The hometown Ravens potting the final tally of the contest and winning the 13-12 decision over Island rivals, the Nanaimo Timbermen.

The Campbell River Ravens played host to the Oceanside Sharks for a Thursday night contest which saw the home team take a commanding 5-0 first period lead and not look back. The Sharks couldn't muster a full 20 minute third period attack with a short bench and eventually succumbed to the strain and fatigue and let the period slip away 3-1. A great outing in the losing cause for midget call-up goalkeeper Todd Jenkins.

The Nanaimo Timbermen gave everything they had against the Express on Friday night as they opened the scoring halfway through the first period with the Express tying the game and period with just over 2 minutes to go. This match was a goaltenders dual as both 'keepers kept the scoring to a minimum.

The Timbermen took a 3-1 lead early in the second but relinquished their lead with :50 seconds to go in the 2nd to make the score 5-4. The third period was again, a contest between goalies with Saanich being the only team to score in the third. A great game for fans to have watched.

A busy week for the Nanaimo Timbermen and it all caught up to them Sunday. With players missing due to graduation and Father's Day obligations, the Timbermen couldn't hold strong to their mid-week game play as they fell on the road to the league leading Westshore Bears.
