The Westshore Bears hosted the expansion Cowichan Thunder on Thursday April 27th at the Q Centre Arena at 8pm.

The Bears started quickly potting 2 goals in the first two minutes but then the Thunder rallied with 4 straight by the halfway mark of the period. That woke up the Bears who then returned with 4 of their own to take the first period 6-4.

The Thunder would open the second period scoring to bring the game within one goal but then the Bears had a feast the remainder of the period scoring seven unanswered and then three more in the final frame to cruise to victory.

The Thunder were led by Jake McCluskey (2g, 2a, 4pts), and Jacob Norman (1g, 1a, 2pts). The Bears were lead by Connor Rant, Olivier Laplante and Will Perrier (6pts each).

The Saanich Express spent the weekend in Campbell River to face the Campbell River Ravens in a back to back homestand in the Salmon Capital of BC at the Strathcona Gardens Arena.

The Express took advantage of every 30 second shot clock shooting opportunity and the Ravens defence spent the first period chasing their opponents as the visiting Express took the lead and kept it throughout. All goaltenders got lots of shots with Saanich back-up Eric Howarth getting logging lots of minutes in this game. Eric Forbes was kept busy with no back-up to help with the load this evening.

The Saanich Express were lead by Tyler Delli-Carri (2g, 6a, 8pts), Tory Bains (5g, 1a, 6pts) and Colton Hauser (4g, 2a, 6pts). The Campbell River Ravens were led by Tyler Wingert (1g, 1a, 2pts), and five others with a point each.

A night of rest does the players good! Campbell River did an a bout face in game number two of the weekend outworking the Express most of each period. Down by only a goal after the first period and down 9-6 after two period, the Ravens hung in the game tying the Express in the final period to come close in their 2nd home game of the season.

Hats off to the Ravens' Joel Fisher and Express' Eric Howarth for their excellent play in this game.

The Ravens were lead by Joel Fisher (3 goals), Tyler Wingert, Nathan Sutter and Cole McIntosh with (1g, 1a, 2pts) each. The Saanich Express were led by Tory Bains and Mike Johansen (3g, 1a, 4pts) each, and Tyler Delli-Carri and Jeremy Benson (1g, 2a, 3pts) each.

The Oceanside Sharks took their 2-1 record down the road to the 0-2 Nanaimo Timbermen to face off between the two evenly match clubs.

Both teams battled hard for throughout the game with the teams remaining tied after the first period, the Sharks taking a one goal lead into the final frame and the Timbermen's Dylan Bennett find twine with just over 8 minutes left to score the game winner.
