2020 PREVIEW: Oceanside Sharks

OCEANSIDE SHARKS

LAST SEASON: 2-14
PLACE: 5TH

After spending the 2018 season in exhibition mode, the Oceanside Sharks made the jump to the PNWJLL Junior B2 Lacrosse League in 2019. As with most new franchises, the Sharks worked hard on and off the floor to present their product for the PNWJLL to see.

The Sharks started the season on the road due to some arena conflicts and faced the Westshore Bears both games, a daunting task. After losing their next contest, their first victory came at home over the Campbell River Ravens and sparked a fire which would rekindle the sport not just for the players but for the entire community in Parksville. Oceanside worked hard every shift of every game no matter the outcome, they put forth great team contributions in all games they played.

The team will be led by the likes of Jaydon Haftner (24G, 5A, 29PTS), Clayton Vickers (6G, 10A, 16PTS), Dawson Fyfe (7G, 8A, 15PTS), Tanner Allan (6G, 7A, 13PTS) and potentially many of their graduating midgets for the upcoming year.

Losing but only a handful of players, the Sharks will be swimming the deep for a few players to crack their line-up this season. With another 10 graduating midgets and free agents in areas like Port Alberni and Comox, the future is bright for the Sharks. With graduating Junior Goaltender Kyle Johnston gone, Oceanside will most likely turn over the crease to midget graduate Jacob Colley. Finding themselves a 2nd goalie to share the duties won't be easy but knowing the staff Oceanside (Head Coach Cam Miller, Assistants John Shafi, Dave Wheldon and Manager Rennee Allan), they will be okay for 2020.

Oceanside Place will host the Sharks again in 2020.
